Hello Dungeon Designers! We need the help of our dungeon designer community. We’re setting a goal to have 500 dungeons in the game by July 1st! We currently have 291. Help us reach this milestone! To help we’re running another Creator Challenge starting TODAY! The challenge runs 2/1/25 – 2/8/25 We’ll play your dungeons on stream on 2/9/25! We’re going back to something we did for one of the very first creator challenges, but instead of one room it’s… The two-room challenge! Here are the rules: Create a dungeon with only two rooms One of the rooms must use the Ruins theme (it can still contain objects/décor from other themes) The rooms must connect via the new “well” décor item in the Ruins theme – either the “One Way” or “Two Way” variant Put “CC” or “Creator Challenge” in your dungeon title In the spirit of friendly competition, we’re also going to have a fun incentive this time. Our favorite dungeon will receive a special “Creator Challenge Winner!” Tag to forever highlight it. We’ll be looking at our favorite dungeon that meets the criteria above and will consider factors like how many likes it has, how it implemented unique or interesting ideas etc. We’ll play all the dungeons on stream and feature our favorites on our socials! Good luck and thanks in advance for helping us reach our 500 dungeon milestone. Let’s aim for over 300 dungeons by the end of the challenge!

Our next update is here bringing a new theme, a new enemy and many bug fixes and enhancements! Introducing the Ruins Theme Over 100+ new materials to use to create Ruins themed dungeons! Mix and match themes however you like! Fireflies added to the Forest Theme – you won’t believe your eyes. New enemy: Snap Trap – Looks like a Treasure Chest but springs to life and chases the player when they interact with it! New carpet colors in the Castle Theme! It’s time for another Creator Challenge! Creator Challenges are when we give you custom rules to apply to your dungeon. For this challenge we want to see some SpoOoOoOky dungeons, here are the rules: SPOOPLE BUSTERS! Duration: 10/27 through 11/7 The player must start with the Lantern (or find the lantern in the first room) Each room must start as a dark room (place an unlit torch to turn a room into a dark room) Each room must have at least 1 Spoople enemy (ghost) You must defeat every Spoople to open the door or create a path to the End Level Tile (If you need some tips on how to set this up, check out our Discord channel!) In addition to many bug fixes we added a new tool and more! Update Notes New Tool: Remote Bomb! Now YOU choose when thing s’plode. Place down a remote bomb, then hit the same button to make the placed bomb blow up!   Pit detection enhancement: The player will slow down a bit first when they run up to a pit. This makes it easier to navigate around pits without falling in.   Adjusted enemy hitboxes: We made some adjustments to the hitboxes of enemies, they’ll be a bit easier to hit now.

We have a hefty surprise update with a few exciting new objects to play with! Update Notes Shield: A new usable tool, use the shield to block damage in front of you. You’ll strafe while the Shield is out and you’ll also move slower.   Razor Traps: There are two versions, a Blue Razor Trap that automatically moves up/down or left/right until it hits something, and a Red Razor Trap that will fly at the player when they step in front of it. Finally, a full tile wide moving hazard!   Spiked Block: A block covered in spikes so the player takes damage when touching it. The spikes can be retracted via linking. There are also push-able variants that can only be pushed when the spikes are retracted.   Conveyors: We have basic conveyors added in the objects menu, we are still deciding what objects will be moveable on conveyors. So far they will move all items, enemies, blocks and some other objects. In our next update we’ll be adding linking to the conveyors as well as a switch to toggle them on and off. Stay tuned for more updates! We’re excited to see what puzzles come out of these.

It’s time for another Creator Challenge! Creator Challenges are when we give you custom rules to apply to your dungeon. For this challenge, we want to see some creative use of mixing themes, here are the rules: Duration: 8/11 through 8/21 Each room in your dungeon must lead to a room designed in a different theme. You can combine some elements of both themes in the room but the majority of the room should be themed to one type. So it should alternate Castle/Forest/Castle/Forest etc. You can have a room with multiple exits but Forest rooms should only lead to Castle rooms and Castle rooms should only lead to Forest rooms. The room size must be the default room size or smaller (with an exception for Forest rooms if you want to add more ceiling tiles). You can create rooms that are the same area as a default room (same number of total tiles). Put “Creator Challenge” or “CC” in your dungeon title. Your dungeon must allow up to 4 players (add 4 players, then click the checkbox on Player 2’s tab). It doesn’t need to be 4 player, just allow up to 4 players – so you can clear and upload it in single player. Have fun! If you need help reach out in Discord or on the Steam Community Forums. A brand new theme has been added to the game – The Forest Theme! Click the tree icon in the top right build mode menu to check out all the new materials. There are also new tutorials to help you navigate the theme. Please leave us your feedback or suggestions! This was a large update, here’s a full list of everything available The Forest Theme is now available! This includes over 100+ new materials and dark/light color variations.   A new tutorial was added for “Themes”.   A new tutorial was added for “The Forest Theme”, won’t you help Scout touch grass?   Select the music that plays in your dungeon! From the Dungeon Options menu you can select a track and click the “Set Music” button to have that music play during your dungeon. You can also preview the tracks by clicking on them in this menu.   Three new music themes were added that can be selected as described in the previous bullet: “Forest – Light”, “Forest – Dark” and we put the “Classic” theme back in the game in case you missed it. We’ve completely overhauled the audio in Super Dungeon Designer and added a News Menu in-game to view updates just like this one! Audio Overhaul Nearly every SFX (sound effects) in the game have been reworked or updated including UI SFX.   Many brand new SFX have been added, too many to list!   A new theme for playing a dungeon has been added. The old theme will be selectable again in the future!   The new theme is dynamic, as more enemies appear on screen the theme will intensify.   Scout’s Theme will play when you hang out around a shop in a dungeon for a bit.   Boss theme has been updated. News Menu We added a “What’s New” button on the Main Menu so when players launch the game they can learn what the new features are without having to look elsewhere.   News is sorted from newest to oldest and will be marked as read once viewed.   If you have an update you haven’t read yet, you’ll see an exclamation point on the button to let you know there is something new to check out. We added Interior Walls, they can be found under the Walls tab on the right menu in Build Mode. Use them to block off areas inside of a room!   Fixed a bug with blocks not falling into pits.   Tutorial text now displays properly when it is three or more lines long.   Small fix to Kickstarter Backer text font in Credits.

We have a handful of updates as well as many small bug fixes and enhancements! We’ll have another big and exciting update coming soon. We also recently hit 200 dungeons in Browse Dungeons!! Update Notes Focus Marker object When you place an active Focus Marker in your dungeon, the camera will zoom out to keep the tile you placed the Focus Marker on always in the frame! You can link to Focus Markers to turn them on and off so it’s a great way to show the player something just out of their view such as a treasure chest or a frog statue. There is an active and inactive version. Wall Stairs Wall Stairs let the player go up and down walls. If you place walls in the middle of a room the player can now use Wall Stairs as a way to move in and out of that area. Projectiles will also go over Wall Stairs. Enemies will avoid the Wall Stairs so be wary of creating a “safe spot” for the player. Projectiles now travel over Scout’s rug Autosave enhancements We added a “restore autosave” button to each dungeon in the dungeon detail view of your “My Dungeons” page. This will replace the current autosave with the last autosave from that dungeon. If you happen to lose an autosave for a dungeon you were working on, you can restore it this way.
